India is a Cricket crazy nation. But cricket has audience in limited countries. Cricket administrators are now trying to garner more audience & they are looking west.

Cricket and baseball are often compared. While they do have similarities, the games are very different and require completely different skill sets.

The purist’s form of cricket is a 5 day game, Test Cricket, which may not even result in one team winning. But cricket is also played as a 1 day (8 hour) game. Another, newer form is called T-20 and finishes in 3 hours. This is the form of cricket that administrators are trying to promote.

The biggies of cricket are playing in the US to promote cricket. On display will be:

1. Sachin Tendulkar : The God of Cricket. Sachin, the best batsman ever has more fan following than Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Gautam Buddha or the Dalai Lama. People love him not just for his ability but also conduct off and on the field. Here is what ESPN says – “Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world. ”

2. Shane Warne : Regarded one of the best bowlers of all time. He can spin the ball a proverbial mile. Check out this exceptional video of Warnie’s prodigious spin.

Both are exceptional talent and both these cricketing greats have now retired from competitive cricket. However, They will come to lead their respective teams in this spectacle of cricket for the Americans. There are 22 other greats who will be in their teams. Its an all-star exhibition match.

There will be 3 matches. Citi Field in New York City on Nov. 7, Minute Maid Park in Houston on Nov. 11 and the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, on Nov. 14.
